- Green Scene Market, Eatery & Cocktail Bar One of my favorite places to grab a bite while visiting Walker is this farm-to-table restaurant, which focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. The menu features a variety of salads, pizzas, and sandwiches, including gluten-free options. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail, it’s also a great spot to enjoy a drink and an appetizer.
- The Boulders Tucked away in the woods, this quite literal, hidden gem offers a scenic setting that makes dinner feel like an experience. With cocktails, a solid wine list, and dinner options ranging from salmon and steaks to an incredible paella, it’s an ideal spot for a special night out in Walker. Reservations are recommended, especially during peak season.
- Wine Down is a must-stop for fellow wine lovers. It truly delivers, with thoughtfully curated wine list and a charcuterie board you won’t want to skip. The cozy, relaxed atmosphere makes it perfect for catching up with friends or settling in for an easy, laid-back evening.
- Walker Bay Coffee Co Finding a local coffee shop is always at the top of my travel list and it’s an even bigger win when they offer gluten-free options. Their build-your-own breakfast sandwiches can be made on gluten-free bread, which pairs perfectly with the excellent coffee they brew, I personally enjoy trying something off of their current special offerings. Don’t leave without grabbing a bag of beans to take home, we always stock up on the decaf.
- Portage Brewing Company Even though I don’t drink beer, James always enjoys checking out a local brewery, and Portage Brewing Company is worth the stop. The space is beautifully designed with great views and plenty of room to hang out and play games, making it especially appealing if the weather doesn’t cooperate. They also offer gluten-free options like kombucha.
- Forestedge Winery I can’t mention a brewery without also highlighting a local winery. I love experiencing Minnesota wineries and seeing what’s possible with the climate here. In addition to grape-based wines, they offer a variety of other fruit wines, and the rhubarb wine is especially worth trying.

Strolling down Main Street is one of the best things to do in Walker MN, especially if you love browsing local shops. Downtown Walker is packed with charming boutiques, gift stores, ice cream stops, olive oil tasting, and other unique finds. The Christmas store is a standout year-round, offering far more than just holiday décor, think gifts, home accents, and fun seasonal pieces. Somehow, we always end up at Reed’s and never leave empty-handed. It’s the kind of easy, walkable shopping experience that makes downtown Walker worth visiting.
