Day One: Check-in, Dinner, Evening Walk

Afternoon / Evening
Arrive in Stillwater between 4:00-6:00 PM and check into the Ann Bean Mansion, a historic bed and breakfast known for its charming rooms and personal touches. Once you’re settled into your room (we have always stayed in Cynthia’s Room), take a short walk (1/2 mile) to Domacin Restaurant & Wine Bar for a relaxed, upscale dinner (reservations recommended).Stillwater is a charming, hilly town. If you have any mobility challenges, I would recommend that you walk to dinner. Don’t worry, many of the key spots are a short drive apart, making it easy to explore without the extra effort.
I recommend that you start your evening with the Wine Lover’s Plate and scallops, then share the rich and flavorful Risotto Bistecca. They offer a rotating menu based on the seasons, so if you don’t see these particular dishes during your visit, anything you choose is sure to satisfy. Don’t skip dessert, the gelato is a great way to celebrate your night away. Explore their Staff Picks wine menu for a glass that perfectly complements your meal.

After dinner, take a look at the wine shop, you might just discover a special bottle to take home for the evening. We stumbled on a wine from Frog’s Leap Winery, which brought back memories of our Napa trip. [Full Napa Valley Itinerary can be found here!]
If you want a little more adventure before heading back to the B&B, walk down St. Croix Scenic Byway and check out some of the local shops. Wrap up your evening with a cozy wind-down in your room, perhaps with some Netflix and that newly discovered bottle of wine.
Day Two: Breakfast, St. Croix River Cross Loop Trail, and Pizza
Today is all about the luxury of staying in a bed and breakfast and enjoying breakfast delivered to your room, scenic walks along the St. Croix, and Detroit-style pizza.
Morning
Wake up to breakfast delivered to your room at the Ann Bean Mansion. Their gourmet breakfasts are a highlight of the stay, and they happily accommodate dietary needs like gluten-free.

Afternoon
After breakfast, check-out and take a short drive to downtown Stillwater and enjoy a stroll along the St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail. This 4.7-mile loop connects the iconic Lift Bridge and the St. Croix Crossing Bridge, giving you beautiful views of the river and the town. Make sure to pack some water and enjoy the views. This would make a great biking adventure if you prefer not to walk. Bring your own bikes or take advantage of the convenient rental options in downtown Stillwater, including both traditional and e-bikes for an extra boost.
Evening
As your walk works up your appetite, treat yourself to lunch at Melt Pizza Company. This spot is a gem, offering gluten-free Detroit-style pizza and vegan cheese options. While you wait (Detroit-style takes a little longer), enjoy their roasted cauliflower wings with Tajin honey and try one of their signature cocktails, we loved the Mezcal Basil Smash and the Bae Hive.
Split two pizzas to sample more of the menu, we recommend the Dream Team and Drunken Love. It’s totally worth the leftovers.

After your meal, it’s time to head home. Stillwater may be a small town, but in just one night, you’ll create memories that will stay long after the drive back.
